Pakistani Kima


This recipe is from the More with Less cookbook. Its description reads, “Just a hamburger curry, so quick and so good.” True that.


  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • Dash each of black pepper, cinnamon, ground ginger, tumeric
  • 2 cups tomatoes, diced and cooked
  • 2 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 cups green beans (or other vegetables), chopped (fresh or frozen)


  1. Saute onion and garlic in butter until soft.
  2. Add ground beef and brown well.
  3. Stir in curry powder, salt, and remaining spices and vegetables.
  4. Simmer 25 minutes, stirring several times and adding water as needed.
  5. Serve with rice.
